David Sheppard works in the fields of contemporary opera and early music. He has worked with, among others, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, and as a member of The Electric Voice Theatre he has premiered a number of new works, most recently Andrew Lovett's 'Abraham on Trial'.
He has appeared on TV on the Lesley Garrett show for the BBC, and was also recently heard on the soundtrack of the new BBC series Rome.
His early music experience extends from work with his own early music group Corposant throughout Europe, to work with the major British Opera companies and solo concert work as part of
Music Festival and Florence International Music Festival.
He has also sung as a soloist with many choral societies throughout Europe.
In 2002 David was a semi-finalist in the London Handel Singing Competition.
Recent engagements include Pisandro/L'humana fragilita (Il Ritorno d'Ullise in Patria), Hamor (Jephtha) at Welsh National Opera; Ottone (Agrippina) at English National Opera and the World Premiere of Andrew Lovett's 'Abraham on Trial'.
Future engagements include Oberon in the Russian Premiere of
Britten's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and 'Don't Breathe a Word',
a new opera by Andrew Lovett and Fraser Grace with The Electric Voice Theatre.
